Bartek Brzozowski
Meet Bartek Brzozowski, architect and artist from Paris, France. Born to Polish parents, Bartek spent most of his life in France where he inherited a love for writing and drawing. His wife Liliana, a Sogamoseña and co-owner of the health food store El Conejo Azul (“The Blue Rabbit”), have made Sogamoso, Boyacá their home. After many years of planning, Bartek has moved forward with his blueprint to build their eco-home in the countryside, a house constructed without concrete and relying solely on sustainable, natural materials and traditional building methods. This reflects his commitment to environmental consciousness and innovation.
As an unconventional artist for Sumercé Artisans, Bartek has contributed some of his artwork to our gallery, including custom pieces that capture the beauty in the landscapes of Boyacá. His specialty, woven photography, is a captivating art form that involves intertwining two images, weaving details from each into a single composition. Bartek’s work has been showcased in exhibitions across France, Belize, and Colombia.
Bartek is not only an incredible artist but also one of my closest friends in Sogamoso. One of my fondest memories with Bartek is cycling to Morca at dawn, sharing a tinto and a slice of cake while the local stray dogs sought our attention in hope for a bite.
