Santiago Chisino
Since 2015, Santiago Chisino has been creating outstanding art in different mediums such as painting, drawing, engraving, and analog photography. Born in Bogotá, Santi has spent the majority of his life in Tibasosa, where his roots in Boyacá and Cali hold strong. Residing in Boyaca has had a profoundly positive impact on his life, as it has sparked a deep exploration of personal identity, serving as a major source of motivation for his art. Santi creates art that exhibits a certain degree of rebellion and reflects the social divergences that exist within society.
With a Bachelor’s degree in History, Santi believes promoting culture is not only a practice but also an ongoing quest for learning. Promoting culture in today's world presents numerous challenges and can sometimes evoke a sense of powerlessness. The increasing loss of tangible and intangible heritage serves as a stark reminder of the urgency to preserve and safeguard these cultural traditions. Despite the challenges, he remains committed to promoting culture and sees it as an essential responsibility for artists to undertake.
As an independent artist, one of the challenges he faces is the lack of cultural spaces. These spaces often require self-management by the artist, which can be exhausting. Santi also has experienced censorship in the past, leading him to temporarily abandon the art he wishes to create. As his creations are often displayed on billboards or as street graffiti, Santi finds solace in the permanence of his urban art, considering it a rewarding aspect of his work. Santiago's art has been displayed in various cities throughout Colombia, including Tunja, Duitama, Tibasosa, and Bogotá.
Santi is an absolutely wonderful person. Not only does he possess immense artistic talent, but he also wholeheartedly loves what he creates. It is truly a pleasure to collaborate with someone so passionate about art, and someone with such a kind, gentle soul as Santi.
