Juan Andrés Amador

Juan Andrés Amador Saavedra is a poet and photographer from Sogamoso, Boyacá. In 2014, he earned a degree in Law from Santo Tómas University, propelling him into a career in academia. Juan Andrés was an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law (Criminology) in the same institution. Aside from his academic pursuits, Juan Andrés is a highly skilled photographer, specializing in street photography.

Juan Andrés holds a special place in my heart as my closest friend in Colombia. Our friendship began with a chance encounter in the quiet town of Tópaga, Boyacá in June 2014. If he hadn't taken the initiative to walk up to my table and introduce himself, we may have never crossed paths. Juan Andrés is a man of many talents, with a sharp intellect and a profound capacity for introspection. On my last day of my internship with Fundación Montecito (2014), Juan Andrés presented me with a treasured gift - a copy of his late grandmother's poetry book. His grandmother Juana Guzmán Vargas was a remarkable woman who refused to let cancer silence her voice. When given two years to live, she decided to publish two books of her poetry. Her work has always been a source of inspiration for Juan Andrés, a guiding light in his life and creative journey. Every Sumercé product includes a poem from this grandmother-grandson duo, a testament to the enduring power of their bond.
